from John’s campaign website:
The Green Party of Tennessee nominated John P. Miglietta as their candidate for Tennessee’s Fifth District U.S. House seat at their nominating convention on May 3, 2008 in Music City, USA. John Miglietta’s keen grasp of the vital issues confronting us, combined with his warm personality and dedication to peaceful resolution of conflict, make him ideally suited to serve in the United States Congress. He is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Tennessee State University. As a scholar, Dr. Miglietta is trained to think critically, examining problems, solutions, and purported facts from all angles – as George Bush’s Iraqi WMD statements should have been, but were not. As an educator, Dr. Miglietta can present complex ideas persuasively, in a down to earth fashion. He understands the true purpose of history, which is to help us avoid future mistakes by studying those of the past, such as the Vietnam War or the many failed attempts by European countries to occupy and control North African and Middle Eastern nations. As a political scientist, he understands the workings of government. His Green Party background is the best guarantee that Middle Tennessee’s vote on United States alternative energy policy will be guided by ecological wisdom, sustainability, and social justice rather than by corporate greed.
As author of American Alliance Policy in the Middle East: 1945-1992, (available from Barnes & Noble), Dr. Miglietta is a valuable addition to any debate or discussion of American foreign policy in the Middle East at any level, making him a great asset to the United States’ Congress, and bringing credit to the state of Tennessee and the voters of the Fifth Congressional District.
Please vote for John Miglietta on November 4, 2008. It is time for change in the United States House of Representatives.

Dear Friends,
The war in Iraq has been dragging on for over five years and thousands of Americans have been killed. Our national debt is spiraling upwards almost as fast as the price of gas is increasing. Americans are losing their homes as the housing crisis drags on while millions go without health insurance.
Tennesseans deserve better leadership than this. It is time to end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home. Now is the time to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care. Now is the time to take steps to reduce global warming and protect the environment for future generations. Now is the time for progressive political leadership in Tennessee.
